People pronounce the word caramel either as care-uh-mel or as car-mel. (Personally, I say the former. There's an A in there, after all!) Maybe it's a regional thing. What do you say?

It's like "aunt" and "ant" - which one is right?

Yeah. But the dictionary lists only the "ant" pronunciation, so I guess "ant" is correct. You wouldn't pronounce the word "caugh" as "caff," so why not "aunt" as "ahwnt"? Strangely, the dictionary lists both pronunciations of "caramel." What gives?
