Yesterday was my birthday. Ugh. I'm an old man. But Jon made it a really special day...with food and laughs.
We went to our favorite restaurant in New York: Eleven Madison Park. Jon even had them print special menus with my name on top! (How cool is that?)
First course: Jon got gnocchi with truffles, and I got an avocado-wrapped crab roll with lime and yogurt. A guy wearing white gloves came to the table, removed the truffle from a wooden box, and then shaved the truffle directly on top of Jon's gnocchi. Tres fan-say!
Second course: Jon got poached lobster with parsnip puree and black truffles, and I got arctic char with figs and sweet potatoes.
Third course: Jon got suveed chicken with truffles, butternut squash, and parsnips, and I got venison with pear, salsify, and chanterelles.
Dessert: Jon got a quark souffle with apple sorbet, and I got cranberry sorbet with white chocolate-stuffed puff pastries. Then we headed up to Caroline's Comedy Club to see Sherri Shepherd, who made me misty with this clip from The View.
