Drum roll please...
Ta-dah! Red wine and dark chocolate.
Not exactly your grocery-store variety of oatmeal cookie, but I think it might be worth a try. Apparently, red wine and dark chocolate are two flavors that pair well together. So why not? This could be a cookie for adults.
I'm no wine expert. In fact, I'm not even a drinker. Just the smell of alcohol makes me do that scrunched-up "ick, booze!" face. (I know...I'm no fun at parties.) But I think cooking down and reducing the wine will burn off some of its alcohol and leave behind a velvety grapiness to complement the richness of the dark chocolate.

Ha! I'm just like you...I just smell alcohol and...ew! I do like using cooking sherry but drinking any of it, I just can't! It would be interesting in a cookie.

Hi, Claire. Isn't it funny! I'd much rather have a Diet Coke than anything with alcohol in it. And that old line that "vodka doesn't taste anything"? Who are they kidding!?
I think this red wine/dark chocolate cookie will be different, though, because all the booziness will be burned off.

Hi Greg, Anna had posted a link to a red wine cookie awhile back. I've been tempted to make it but haven't yet. Maybe you can mess with it and transform it into an Oatmeal Cookie Guy version!
