Sandra, a reader from British Columbia, Canada, emailed me to ask about replicating an old Christmas cookie recipe for her:
"Ok Cookie Guy,
I come to you, the expert...
I'm looking for an oatmeal cookie recipe that I had about 12 years ago. It was a Christmas recipe, and the cookies had granola, milk chocolate chips, and candied maraschino cherries in them. The recipe I had was a photo copy, probably from one of those little little recipe books you get from Kraft or Nestle or the like.
I remember subbing with cranberries and white chocolate chips and they were equally delicious.
I'm curious if you can come up with something! Thanks for your help."
The original recipe you described sounds almost like an oatmeal-chocolate chip-fruitcake cookie. Hmmm. Very interesting. I'll do some investigating, and then I'll have to take a stab at this.
If you're looking for a cookie with oatmeal, cranberries, and white chocolate, you might want to try my Cranberry Crunch Cookies or my XXX Cranberry Cookies. I think these would come close to your variation on the original maraschino cherry and milk chocolate version of the recipe.
Thanks for writing in, Sandra...and stay tuned for what I come up with!

I had a neighbor that made something like this when I was a child, but not granola, just oatmeal. They were really good, would love to reinvent that wheel.
