At the dinner party the other night, conversation turned to new recipes I've been thinking about, as well as some oldey timey local favorites I should consider oatmealifying. (I didn't mean to monopolize the conversation, but let's face it: Who doesn't like talking about--or eating--cookies?)
Oldey timey favorite #1: the hermit, which is spiced with cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, etc., and has raisins and can be be either crispy or chewy, a bar or a dropped cookie. Yeah...there's lots of wiggle room there to come up with my own version.
Oldey timey favorite #2: the moosehunter, a molasses cookie, which I was told comes from up north in Maine and along the Canadian border. I think this one will require a little more research before I start drafting a recipe.
I guess I could do an oatmeal version of New York's black & white cookie...as long as it's not cakey. What other regional cookie recipes are there?
