I had a super fancy Monday night in Chicago, with a performance/dinner benefit for eighth blackbird.
After the performance, we had dinner at The Publican, and guess who made the first two of the five courses...
That's right...Mario Batali! I could have had my picture taken with him, but I got all shy and stupid and missed my opportunity. Dang! 1) Hot lard bruschetta with culatello di babbo and salami picante.
2) Gnocchi. 3) Spanish mackerel with preserved eggplant and wood sorrel.
4) Cotechino sausage, smoked turkey, pork belly, and root vegetables. 5) Fromage tart with walnuts, golden raisins, and rosemary.








How cool! You got great pictures, I knew just who it was before I read the caption. And no regrets, getting to eat his food is way more important than a dumb ol' picture. I'm glad you enjoyed your time here.
