On Saturday, my buddy Ryan and I went on a food adventure and ate our way across three states.
First stop: King's Donuts in Saugus, MA. Ryan warned me that the coffee rolls here were enormous and delicious, but I really had no idea just how enormous and delicious they would be. Here's a pic of one with my car keys to give you a sense of the scale. That sucker's bigger than my head! It took two days to polish it off.
Second stop: Lollipop Tree in Portsmouth, NH. This place had loads of fancy jams, jellies, dipping sauces, marinades, and bread and scone mixes. We had a nice snack of crackers and several varieties of pepper jelly. I also got some ideas for new cookie flavor combos, including maple pecan
Third stop: Beach Pea Baking Company in Kittery, ME. We stopped here for a small nosh of ginger and lemon, violet shortbread, and iced pumpkin and raisin cookies before heading off to the Stonewall Kitchens company store for more jam and jelly samplin'.The whole gourmet food/bakery thing looks like it would be a good life.
