There was a time when I used to make dinner out of condiment sandwiches--mustard, ketchup, and, of course, hot sauce. Sometimes, when I was out of bread and didn't feel like running down to the grocery store, I'd just drink the hot sauce from the bottle. Yup...me and condiments. We're really good friends.
But I digress...
What got me on the condiment kick was a conversation I had over breakfast a few weeks ago, when somehow we landed on the topic of a Tobasco-flavored cookie.
I can dig the heat of Tabasco, but I'm not in love with the flavor. And I wasn't sure how to elevate the a Tobasco-tinged recipe beyond the novelty of a spicy cookie. I've done spicy cookies already (see my Hot(ter) Chocolate and Chocolate & Chipotle Cookies), so I wanted to do something really unique.
And then it hit me: 1) I love both the heat and the flavor of Frank's Hot Sauce. 2) Frank's is used to make Buffalo wings. 3) Blue cheese complements the heat of Buffalo wings. 4) I'll make a Buffalo wing-inspired cookie!
This will be a strictly savory cookie, along the lines of my two other savory creations: Scarborough Fair Cookies and Parmesan & Black Olive Cookies.
Stay tuned! I know you wanna see how I pull off this one.
