Marya, a reader and real-life recipe user, tried my German Chocolate Cake Cookies recipe and had this to say:
Hi! I just made these cookies and they are DELICIOUS! I made a few adjustments (I always do when I'm cooking or baking) I didn't have any unsweetened chocolate or milk chocolate, so I ground up some butterscotch and semi sweet choco chips. I also added a dash of cinnamon and a dash (like pinch, really) of ground coffee. They are so good. But I think I may have cooked them too long. They don't really turn golden brown since they're already so dark. They were a tad dry, so I dropped the cooking time down to 9 minutes (but my cookies got progressively smaller too, once I realized that I wanted to share them with a bunch of people). All in all, a fabulous recipe and I can't wait to make another! I'm looking for a banana cookie recipe, specifically. hint hint :) And now I'm going to go to the post office to send some to my sister and real life recipe user Em, who frequents your blog often!
Thanks, Marya! I'm really glad you liked these guys. And those tweaks you made sound great. Baking times can vary because ovens can be so different. (I once lived in apartment in New York City that had an oven so wonky that it took a whole day to bake an apple pie.) It sounds like yours runs a little hotter than mine, so it's good that you tested the cookies as you went along.
Oh...and don't worry. I've got some recipes for banana cookies I've been thinking through. And say hi to Em for me. :-)
