A little while ago, my friend Gary forwarded a recipe that his friend Bill forwarded to him for Toblerone muffins and challenged me to come up with a cookie version. I checked out the muffin recipe and did some online investigating to get some ideas. Turns out there already are Toblerone cookies, but I'm sure mine will be better. How could they not be? Oatmeal makes all cookies better.
Challenge accepted, Gary!
For those of you not in the know, Toblerone is a tasty Swiss chocolate that comes in a triangular tube. I have a vague memory of seeing Toblerone for the first time as a life-sized bar included in the prize round of Wheel of Fortune. This was back when contestants had to spend their winnings on the show's collection of overpriced, allegedly fancy object de arte. If there was money left over, but not enough to get the ceramic dalmation umbrella stand, the balance of the cash went on a Service Merchandise gift certificate. What a racket.
Later, my brother and I got mini Toblerones in our Christmas stockings, along with Lifesavers candy storybooks...and new toothbrushes and toothpaste. Hmmm...I guess this explains why I think of this as a potential Christmas cookie. But I digress. Stay tuned for chocolaty goodness.
